Purdue Sings a Great Success

This weekend nearly one hundred high school students joined our own Purduettes and Glee Club members for a concert on the steps of Hovde Hall after the football game. The high school students from all over the great state of Indiana arrived at 8:00 this morning to meet and greet with our college students, and both high school and college student alike began rehearsing at 9:15. In just a few short hours, every student knew his or her vocal part, and the college students even taught the high school students choreography! After a quick workshop break, which allowed the college students to teach some performance techniques to their young counterparts, everyone met together to celebrate a Purdue victory over the struggling Illini. The crowd swelled as the PMO Bell Choir took the stage, followed by the Purduettes, the Glee Club, and then, the combined voices of PMO and Indian High Schools. The grand finale from the Musical Hairspray included some rousing choreography that brought the crowd to its already aching feet. Afterward was a brief reception including drinks and sweets (thanks to our PMO moms for providing homemade sweets!). This will hopefully become an annual event, and this first attempt was a smashing success. If you are interested in learning more about Purdue Sings, please email Purdue Musical Organizations.

Seventieth Annual Christmas Show Approaching

Tickets are still available for the Seventieth annual PMO Christmas Show. This year's theme is Christmas around the world: A Small World After All. Like every Christmas Show that falls on a year that is a multiple of five, this Christmas Show will feature not only our gifted and talented college students, but some of our most famous alumni as well! The first half of this musical extravaganza will feature sights and sounds straight out of Radio City Musica Hall, very contemporary sets and lighting effects, as well as both classical and contemporary holiday musical numbers. The second half, as always, will be the telling of the birth of our savior through song: the Cantata. International flavors will be woven throughout the entire show: and international flavor for one of the world's most international universities. Tickets are available through the Elliott box office, $17 for students and $25 for adults. For more information, please contact the Purdue Musical Organizations.
