About Professional Writing

What does a professional writer do?

A professional writer can do any number of things. The program at Purdue offers students the choice to focus on either publishing or technical writing. I am personally focusing on technical writing, meaning that my classes focus on creating documents such as user manuals for computer programs, or instructions on how to operate a scanner. As part of the general course of study, all Professional Writing students at Purdue learn how to create web pages, sales and marketing documents (i.e. pamphlets, posters, menus, booklets, etc), and a number of different document types. To see samples of projects I have done at Purdue, please visit my portfolio.
